Institute for Educational Management and Technologies

The Institute for Educational Management and Technologies (IBB-HSG) originally emerged from the Institute for Business Education (IWP-HSG). In order to develop new, technology-supported teaching and learning approaches, the institute founded the "Swiss Competence Centre for Innovations in Learning (scil)" in 2003 with start-up funding from the Gebert Rüf Foundation.

In the course of the digital transformation, the re-establishment of the Institute for Educational Management and Technologies was decided by the university bodies in 2020 and implemented as of January 1, 2021. The developments of the digital transformation have comprehensive effects on society and economy, thus also on the education sector. The IBB-HSG deals with artificial intelligence, new human-machine interactions (chatbots, robots as learning partners) for the design of educational processes. The institute's fields of work are at the intersections of digital transformation, network economics, data-driven education management, and computational thinking.
