Department of Basic Neurosciences

The Department of Basic Neurosciences of the Faculty of Medicine is at the heart of the neuroscience community in Geneva, with a core team of 14 research groups covering two campuses - the University Medical Centre (CMU) and the Campus Biotech. The Department is part of the UNIGE Neurocentre and some of its researchers are members of the Synapsy Centre for Mental Health.

The research teams are exploring brain function, from molecules to neurons and circuits, using cellular and animal models as well as human subjects, with the long-term aim of understanding the neural bases of human behavior in health and disease.
